How much money does a bartender make
Now that you have finished with school, or if you are still contemplating a career change, you may be wondering how much money bartenders actually make. I’m sure you have heard about people making $50,000- over $100,000 a year. It is possible to make this much money; however there are things that you need to do to ensure that you will make a great living bartending.

First be sure that you received training at a reputable Bartending School. Your odds of getting hired at an upscale bar are going to be far more likely if they are impressed with your training. However, don’t expect that they first job you get is going to be at the nicest place in town. Bartenders work their entire lives to get hired at these establishments because this is where you are going to earn the most money. You need to get a little experience under your belt first.

Also your location has a lot to do with how much money you are going to make. Bartenders in Las Vegas are more likely going to make more money than bartenders in Newport, Oregon. Of course the cost of living in more in Las Vegas, but you will more than make up for it with the money you make.

When you are first out of Bartending School, the best thing you can do is get a little experience. You can move on after a short period of time.

i’m a bartender, you don’t “have” to drink… per say… but like the article says you work for years moving up to better bars, and you’re not always going to start on the top. It’s been said that in the bar business it’s alot to do with who you know, not always just what you know. In order to meet people, you have to socialize… As a bartender, in a nightclub, I can always spot the square without a drink in his hand. It’s not just about professionalism, it’s about having fun too… There’s no way you’re gonna be able to deal with drunks, skanks, and assholes or make it in a job like this in general without being able to laugh a few things off… If you’re too serious about your job, you’ll get eaten alive…

Yes, you have to drink. You have to know what taste good together. Are most chefs fat? DUH!? I have cut back on my drinking after the the last twelve years in the industry. You need to be able to have a customer come up and be like I like fruity…tangy….bitter…whateva…and be able to throw ingredients together to create something they like…no name for the drink…just knowledge:)

I bartend in Las Vegas, first you need to know all places look for personality and looks. You can teach personality or looks. Hate to say it but that is what Las Vegas is all about. It is good to taste your drinks, but i would not worry baout having to drink on the job. If you try to drink on the job you will be fired. If your anywhere but Las Vegas you have a whole diffrent set of rules. If you want to bartend on the strip in Las Vegas you have to obtain 4 diffrent cards: TAM,Health,Sheriffs, and Union Card. All these cards take time to get.
