Bartender Interview: Laura Serafine
Laura tends bar at Arnie Morton’s Steak house in Burbank, CA. She’s also a singer/songwriter. To hear her music, check out her MySpace profile. But first, let’s hear what she has to say about tending bar.
Why did you decide to get into bartending?
It just fell in my lap, I was doing the payroll in the mornings at a restaurant and the manager said I could have any job I wanted at night so, I chose bartending because the bartenders had the most comfortable uniform.
What is your favorite drink to make?
Anything you shake, I love to shake!
What is your least favorite drink to make?
Mojitos… they are delicious but when you’re slammed and someone orders a round of those, you just wanna punch them.
What is your bartender pet peeve?
When people tell me how to make a drink… as if after 6 years I don’t know how to make their stupid little rum and diet. Grrrr.
What’s the most interesting/scandalous thing that’s happened to you on the job?
I have had married men ask me to be their mistress, (to which I replied no thank you )… I also had a girl turning 21 grab my butt and then flash me. She had quite a bit.
What’s the best line somebody has used to get a free drink from you?
“Hey there what’s your name?” “Laura” “Well Laura, you are too pretty to date me, so can I have free booze?”
What’s the most memorable pickup line you’ve heard?
“Hey bartender, If I was a martini what kind would I be?”
Who would YOU want to have a drink with and why?
Zach Braff from Scrubs because he looks like he would have some great stories to tell.
Tell us one thing about tending bar that we might not know.
In my experience, no matter what you do, grenadine will NOT come out of white clothes.

She’s kinda a good looking
If, she can do things like the rest of the male bartenders, the customer would tend to choose her.
Well, I will…..
