Like a lot of bartenders, Jake stumbled into the career without really trying to. As a musician, he had a lot of club contacts and bartending was a perfect fit. He is now the beverage manager at the Triple 7 Lounge. When that isn’t keeping him busy, he teaches at a bartending school.
Why did you decide to get into bartending?
It wasn’t a decision really, It just happened. I was at the right place at the right time. Why I decided to return and stay is simple: It’s really fun and the money is great.
How did you go about getting your first bartending gig? Was it tough to land your first one?
My first one was easy. I was a musician in a club. The club needed help and I needed some extra cash. The hours were perfect for my schedule so it was a prefect fit for me.
What is your favorite drink to make?
Martini’s
What is your least favorite drink to make?
Anything frozen
What is your bartender pet peeve?
Whiney bar staff and those that don’t leave their side work for others.
What’s the most interesting/scandalous thing that’s happened to you on the job?
Being offered money for sex.
What’s the best line somebody has used to get a free drink from you?
The guy told me he was an organ grinder and his monkey had been arrested for panhandling. He used all his money for bail.
What’s the most memorable pickup line you’ve heard?
Not only memorable but the most direct…”So, can I take you home and f**k your brains out.”
Who would YOU want to have a drink with and why?
Anyone who is pleasant and fun to hang with.
Tell us one thing about tending bar that we might not know.
Don’t think I will attempt this one.

Great interview! I particularly like this line that someone tried on:
“The guy told me he was an organ grinder and his monkey had been arrested for panhandling. He used all his money for bail.”
Awesome. I think I might try that one myself one time.

“â€ÂSo, can I take you home and f**k your brains out.—
Hahahahahaha! This one really made me laugh. I love Martini’s too.
Greetings from Manila Philippines!
I used to have a quality analyst who worked (she is full timer now) as a part-time bartender. Aside from the fact that she’s earning some extra money, she’s enjoying what she is doing!

“Hi, This is a good post. It gives me the information I was in search of.
I have a small query - I don’t have any spam pages or websites. Still I am encountered with messages like “possible spamâ€Â, “Spamâ€Â, and so.
Do you have any idea why it’s such?
Thanks.”

I think being a bartender woudl be one of the most aggrivating jobs in the world…drunk people are annoying….unless I’m drunk also lol…nice post

Great interview.
I used to work at a Mexican restaurant with a big margarita machine that churned out the frozen drinks all night long. No one complained when frozen margaritas were ordered.
I wish I had one of those machines at home.

Being a Bartender would be my dream job. Free drinks and you get to see beautiful women all night, cant beat that.

I agree that bartending would probably be quite aggravating an unpleasant. But if you get into a good place, it could probably be fun.
